Ami-chan

We first meet Ami in episode 8 of the anime.  She is a shy 14 year old girl who happens to be very smart.   Yet she doesn't have any friends.  Why?  Cause everyone thinks she is stuck up.  Just because she isn't very talkative and she is a little smarter than them, they think she is a snob.  Did I say a little smarter?  Heh, she's a lot smarter.  Ami has an IQ of 300!!  Much, much smarter than Albert Einstein.  The normal IQ is about 100-150.  Anyway Ami is a very sweet and nice girl.

When she first meets Usagi, we learn that Ami likes to go to libraries to study.  She also goes to cram schools to learn more.  What can I say, but Ami loves to learn things.  But there is more to the blue-haired girl than studying.  Ami loves to do other things as well.  She's very good at video games.  Even though she hasn't played them much,  she does very well.  She got over 10,000 points at the Sailor V game, which she had never played before!

Ami also likes sports.  What?  Sports?  Yep!  Ami loves to play chess.  Okay so this isn't technically a sport, but she does compete against other players.  Remember the episode when she played chess against Beurche?  She was doing well against someone who was cheating.  Another sport Ami is good at is swimming.  She's like a fish out of the water, and boy can she swim fast.  She tied against Michiru, and she was swimming slower than her on purpose!

Ami also likes the outdoors.  She doesn't stay inside all the time.  She often studies outside. In a SuperS episode, she was composing a melody on her computer,  outside in the nice fall air.

There is another episode (back in the first season), when she is trying to save a park from being made into a business complex.  Go Ami!  She had a tough time trying to inspire the old gardener to complain about it, but in the end, she won and the park was saved.

So what about her family?  Well Ami is an only child with a mother and a father.  I assume her parents are divorced, because she lives with her mother.  Her father, though never shown, is an artist and often sends Ami his paintings.  I think Ami sometimes longs to be an artist.  She likes to write songs after all! ^_^

Her mother is a doctor, and Ami looks up to her.  You see, Ami wants to be a doctor when she grows up, just like her mom!!  And in some episodes we see Ami proving this.  In the episode when Makoto's friend is in the hospital, Ami is there with Usagi.  She is comforting Makoto while she is donating blood to help save her friend. Then there is the episode when Usagi and Mamoru have to take care of that baby.  Ami was there, helping them the whole time.  In fact she was the one that got Mamoru to watch the baby for a few days while his mother was getting better.  I think she will be a great doctor!

Of course Ami has a crazy side too.  She is very, very competitive about her grades.  In Ami-chan no Hatsukoi, we learn that Ami can't stand the fact Mercurius is tied with her in their exam scores.  So she obsesses over this, freaking everyone else out! This isn't the only time she is competitive.

In a Sailor Stars episode, when everyone in the world comes to Usagi's house, Ami and Taiki are really competitive with their card game! XD Oh and did I mention she's allergic to love letters?  Yep, she breaks out when she sees one!

But the best thing about Ami is that she always sticks up for her friends!  Especially Usagi.  There are numerous times when someone or something question's Usagi's leadership qualities and Ami always backs her up.  Ami always watches out for her too whether it's from helping her with her schoolwork to making sure she is happy.

Ami was really cool in one SuperS episode when she thought Mamoru was cheating on Usagi.  She confronted him and realized everything was a mistake.  But she was watching out for her friend.  Not really a snob, now is she?

That's Ami Mizuno for ya, the nice, shy, smart girl that loves to help out!
