Episode Seven: Unlucky day for Sora. Sailor Eta Carinae learns her mission!
“Sora!”
“Father…” she muttered as she dropped her pen from being startled. Whirling around in her swivel chair, she saw him huffing and puffing while standing in her doorway. “What is it…?” He approached her with a big grin on his face. “He seems real excited…this worries me.” Normally he wouldn’t just burst into her room. He was annoying at times, but he usually gave her space, and now that he was doing this, she was getting a tad concerned.
“It took some hard work to get this for you, actually I have to do a lot a favors for a couple of people…but I got them.” She blinked as she saw him still trying to catch his breath. Did he run here from work or something? She gave a small nervous smile.
“I don’t understand father…”
“You will!” he said as he chuckled and grabbed a folded piece of paper out of his pocket. “These are for you and your new friends!” he thrusted the paper into her hands and continued to smile and look really happy.
“Eh…?”
“Well look at it, and you’ll see!” She looked down and saw poster image for upcoming film. “The Wind Princess?” she read out loud then gave her father a confused look.
“Yes, it’s the new film I’ve been working on, and it’s going to be big, really big, especially with girls your age.”
“…and?” What does this have to do with me? She was never really interested in films, unless they had a really good story.
“And,” he pointed to poster of the actress portraying as the princess. “I’ve managed to get six free passes, for you and your friends to meet her!” She stared at him for a moment, and then back at the actress. She was very pretty, tall and rail thin, wearing a long silky blue gown with her arms out stretched to the sky with her long ebony hair whipping in the wind.
“Oh.” I don’t want to meet this snobbish looking woman. She’ll probably just brag about her stardom and treat me like I’m a peon or something. She narrowed her eyes at the beauty and sighed.
“I was sure you would have been happy, Sora.” She caught his gauze, and saw the instant happy look turn into sheer disappointment.
“Who is she again…?” I don’t want to make him sad…I want him to go away so I can continue writing in my diary.
“She is a new upcoming actress, Beta, Kasumi. She is really popular now days, and I thought perhaps you and your friends would like to meet her. It is part of a promo for the film, and only 15 winners from that stupid rice company who is sponsoring this, are going to meet her and get to see a private screening.”
“Really…?” He nodded his head and smiled. “Wow, he must have done a lot of favors to get those passes…” she started to feel guilty and gave him a broad smile. “I’ll ask them, father, I’m sure they will be thrilled.”
“Great! I’m so glad you think so! The passes are in the envelope.” He then looked at his watch and became pale. “Gah! I’m late! I have to go!” He patted her on the head and turn to rush out of her room, only slowing down to trip over a stack of books she had placed on the floor earlier.
“Father! Are you alright?” she got up, but he had already caught himself, and ended up hopping a bit.
“Fine dear, tell your mother I’ll be late tonight!” With that, he was gone, but she did hear various bangs before finally hearing the front door close.
“He has to work late on a Sunday? Must be because of those dumb things.” She looked blankly at the envelope on her desk. Shaking her head she set it aside and stared at her diary. “Who’s going to save me from these odd social situations that are handed to me?” She had quite of bit of those lately as well. It wasn’t with her new friends, two of which were extremely extroverted that had caused her classmates turn there heads at her direction. Her eye twitched. It was that incident she had with Kamara-san. She knew now that she over reacted and should have kept her cool, but she had been in that spot before from guys wanting to get something out of her. It was a terrible sore spot with her. “Lately though…” she pondered as she sat down and chewed a bit on her pen. “He’s been avoiding me.” She found that strange, even though she completely ignored him the first time he tried to apologize. “Usually he’s persistent, it’s rather annoying.” Of course she didn’t miss his bizarre ways of catching her off guard, but was surprised of his lack of presence. “Oh well, that’s just one less thing to worry about.” Smirking she wrote this last thought down and closed the diary shut. “Now, back to Aya and her weird adventures, least they aren’t as bad.” She went to her notebook and looked at her collection of thoughts and proceeded to type her story on her laptop.
The next morning started out typical for her, she grabbed a piece of toast and narrowly avoided a lengthy conversation with her Father.
“You make sure you ask them, if they want to go, ok honey?” She was putting on her shoes as he yelled this from the kitchen. Rolling her eyes she wished he wasn’t so smothering.
“I will father, thank you!” She didn’t wait for a reply and walked out of the house as quickly as possible. “I’m sure Usagi-chan and Minako will know who this woman is.” She grabbed the envelope from her bag and glanced inside. “Hmm, of course if they go, I will. That leaves the other three.” She was heading towards Usagi’s house. She had been going there every morning, as it seem she was some sort of backup alarm clock. Usagi and Minako were almost late every day, and even with her trying to get them earlier, Sora found herself arriving practically late as well. She didn’t mind though. Her goal wasn’t to be the perfect student, just to get into an excellent college to make her mother proud. “Perhaps Rei-san and Ami-san will be interested?” She wasn’t very sure on those two, after all Ami was the model student and didn’t seem like the type to be interested in movie stars. As for Rei, Sora didn’t really know that much about her, except she and Usagi were really close. They acted like sisters, bickering most of the time when they were together. Sora envied them in their relationship, being an only child, and not very outgoing it wasn’t something she had experienced often.
“So what about this last one?” She held the last pass in her hand and gave it a quizzical stare. Unfortunately, the wind got a hold of it and it flew high above her head and towards a busy intersection. “Ack! If someone else gets a hold of that, my father may get in trouble!” She ran frantically after it, jumping periodically to grab it, only to have it slip from her fingertips. She ducked between several businessmen and other students, saying “Excuse me, Pardon me,” each time. She saw it had landed in the road. “I’m very unlucky, and usually the wind is my friend…” she muttered as she checked the traffic, which was actually slow for the moment. “Good, just grab it and meet Usagi-chan…” she dashed into the street and quickly got a hold of it.
“SORA!! MOVE!!” she heard a familiar voice yell at her. Turning her head she saw a bus heading right towards her. Before even moving she felt two strong arms knock her down and roll her towards the other side. “Idiot! What were you doing?” she saw a pair of angry icy blue almost white eyes before hers.
“Kamara-san?” she sat up as he got up off of her. The pass! She frantically turned and looked at her hand and saw it wasn’t there. “Where did it go?” she looked at her other hand and saw nothing there as well.
“Where did what go?” he asked as he reached down and helped her up.
“I just had it and that stupid bus…” she started to walk towards the street.
“Hold on there! Do you have a death wish or something?” she felt a strong grip on her shoulder.
“No.” she was feeling panic swell up. As much as she hated her father’s over affection towards her, she didn’t want that pass to get into someone’s hands that could get him in trouble. Not after all that work he did to get it for her. “Let me go, I gotta find it…”
“Ok, I see this is important to you. So what are we looking for?” She looked around him for a moment trying to see if it got caught in the wind. “Sora?”
“Huh? Oh, it’s a pass..like a movie pass.” He looked concerned for a moment then perplexed.
“Oook…”
“I know it’s weird, but it’s very important to me…I have to find it. I had it, but then that bus came, and you helped me…”
“Alright, alright, it shouldn’t have gotten far…” He turned around and was looking towards the street. That’s when she spotted it. She bent down and grabbed it, off of the back of his pants leg. “Sora…?” He turned around and peered down at her now awkward position.
“I found it...’ she said rather embarrassed. She felt her cheeks get hot, and cursed the wind for putting her in this awkward situation.
“I’m glad…” he said in a strange tone as he was analyzing her.
“Great, now I’m not going to hear the end of this…” she thought as she glanced about for her bag.
“What else did you lose?”
“My bag.” She replied rather curtly. She wished he would leave her alone, but she knew he wouldn’t. “I should be nicer, he did save me from being part of the pavement back there, and he did have my pass.” She sighed and opened her eyes to see her bag hovering in front of them.
“Here it is.” She blinked and took it from him and saw him grinning at her.
“I know, I know, I’m a complete idiot…” she sheepishly said as she put her envelope into her bag.
“Well I did think that earlier with you crawling about in front of a bus, but if it was something important…then I guess the cucumber queen had a reason to act like that.” She was about to snap back at him, but realized he was right.
“Thanks.” She whipped some of her bangs out of her eyes and stared at her feet. “For everything.”
“No problem, so what was that thing you almost died for…?”
“Ummm…”
“Ok, you don’t have to tell me. Look, we are going to be really late, even later than those upper class girls you hang out with.”
“What…?” she uttered and looked at her watch. He was right, they were still ten minutes away and homeroom was probably starting by now.
“Are you ok?” He was looking at her, when she looked up at him.
“Yea…why?” She noticed he had a scratch on his face and his uniform looked a little scuffed up. “I wonder if I look any better…?” she frowned a bit and glanced at her own skirt. It looked a little dirty as well.
“You look great. Now, let’s go. I’m never late…” he then grabbed her hand and started running, pulling her with him.
“Kamara-san!” she exclaimed, but he kept running.
“You can keep up, you ran pretty fast away from me last week.” He replied back. She snorted and felt the wind pick up, from behind her, making it pretty easy for her to run, even though her muscles hurt from being knocked down just moments earlier. Before she knew it, they had arrived at the gates.
“Phew, that was hard, but exhilarating.” He turned back and smiled at her as he let go of her hand. She nodded, as she was trying to catch her breath. “You owe me big, for ruining my perfect attendance record. I’ll see you later your highness.” With that remark, he bowed at her like he was in some sort of royal court and walked towards the school.
She stood there, having feelings of bafflement; amazement and uttered annoyance go through her. Finally after catching her breath, she walked in the school. “This isn’t my day…” she muttered.
“I am still living with your ghost, lonely and dreaming of the times when we were young.” Sora was staring at her old, and very best friend picture that fallen out of her writing notebook as that thought popped in her head. She quickly grabbed the picture and shuffled it back in. “She is just a ghost, she left me here…” she stared up at the clouds and pondered what it would be like to just stay there and watch the world fly by.
“There you are Sora-chan!” She looked over and saw Usagi, Ami and Minako walking towards her.
“You know, I used to eat lunch up on the roof too, it helped me to concentrate better on my studies.”
“Ami-chan, she isn’t studying up here, are you Sora-chan?” Sora shook her head and smiled at the three of them.
“I was up here writing, and you are right, this spot does help me to concentrate.”
“Writing? Sounds like studying to me…” Minako plopped by her and peered to see her notebook.
“It’s a story actually…” Sora trailed off. She didn’t feel comfortable to tell them about her novel. She had to change the subject. “So how did you know I was up here?”
“Oh, that guy in your class found us as we were looking for you, and told us you would be up here.”
“Kamara-san..?”
“I dunno. He’s kinda cute though.” Minako smiled at her and was about to say something else, but Usagi interrupted her.
“Say, what are you eating? It looks good!”
“Some spicy rice balls, would you like some? My mom is a really good cook.”
“Thank you Sora-chan!”
“So where were you this morning? Usagi-chan and I got here so late…well if it wasn’t for Artemis trying to act like he could set the alarm clock, I would have gotten up earlier.”
“Artemis?”
“Oh, he’s my cat that thinks he is human. Anyway, Usagi-chan said that you weren’t there this morning, and that’s why she was so late. So we ran like crazy and well…it was like old times…” she and Usagi started to laugh at this as Ami just shook her head in disapproval.
“I was really worried Sora-chan, I thought something bad happened to you…like last week.” She gave her a sad worried look.
“No, nothing like that…” she waved her hands frantically.
“Well, something did happen, you have painful looking bruise on your hand.” Ami had whipped out some glasses and was now staring at her left hand.
“Oh this…”
“Yea, and your uniform looks like you got into a fight or something. You don’t look like the type that would though…”
“Minako-chan, she’s not! She’s really sweet. Were there some bullies…?”
“No, it’s really silly what happened…” All three of them stared at her and she felt more embarrassed. After a long awkward pause, she told them of the bus, Kamara-kun and the whole thing. Before anyone said anything, Minako grabbed her hand and was giving her a teary eye look. Usagi had grabbed her other one and was doing the same thing. “Are they twins…?”
“We are so happy that you are ok Sora-chan!” they said in unison.
“What was it that you were after again?” Ami said, trying to break up the potential sobbing session.
“Oh, right! I wanted to ask if you guys wanted to go to this,” The girls let go of her hands and she started to rummage around in her folder as she continue to speak. “you see my dad is a camera man for that old film company, galaxy one or something like that. Anyways, he got free passes, to this…” she grabbed them out and handed them to Ami, Minako and Usagi.
“A free screening to the movie The Wind Princess?” Ami looked intrigued.
“Yea, it stars an actress name Beta Katsumi, she sounds foreign to me.”
“Well, Beta is the second letter in the greek alphabet, so perhaps it is a stage name?” Ami told her and slowly paused as both her and Sora stared at Usagi and Minako. They both had starry eyes and holding their passes like it was a million yen they were holding.
“Guys?” Sora began to speak, but didn’t get another word in. Both her and Ami felt like they were in a typhoon with the large shriek both girls let out.
“Do you know, what…what you got here?” Minako said as she peered down on them, they had both fallen over from the massive scream that probably broke the sound barrier.
“Free passes…?” Sora winced as she shook her head and got back up.
“To see the hottest new actress! She is so cool, and popular right now!” Minako had a scary look to her face as well as looking extremely determined. “This could be my ticket to stardom myself, being discovered. Beta-san will ask me if I could be her co-star in her next film.” She squealed with delight from planning her imaginary debut into the entertainment world. Usagi nodded her head and gave Sora a huge hug.
“I don’t know who this actress is, but I love to finally see a free movie screening, and not get lost!”
“Usagi-chan…” Minako sobbed out after learning Usagi didn’t know the opportunity they just been given.
“I would like to go as well, this movie has been getting lots of wonderful pre-reviews.”
“Really?” Sora didn’t have any idea and was surprised at Ami’s comment.
“Tee, hee, I knew it, you are secretly her fan, aren’t ya?”
“No, I’ve haven’t heard of her, but just of the film, I hear they have excellent effects, some are really breaking new grounds in the technology field.”
“Oh, is that all…well you were a secret fan of the Three Lights, and I just thought that perhaps…”
“That was different Minako-chan.” Ami blushed and quickly looked at her watch.
“I wonder how they are doing? They vanished after their last concert. They broke up and…?” Usagi looked wistful and slightly confused.
“I don’t remember, and I should know this…” Minako replied. Sora stared at the three of them. She was in her last year of junior high when the musical trio went to this school. She never met them, but even she knew of them.
“Odd that they don’t remember though…” “It was a disaster, they died at that concert, and no other people were hurt. I can’t see how you guys could have forgotten that. There was a big explosion, and no one found out the cause. The media said it was terrorists, while others think it was a huge conspiracy….” She trailed off as all three of them gave her extremely distressed and disturbed looks.
“I…I don’t remember that at all…” Ami finally spoke cutting the still and thick silence.
“Well, it was a year ago, so maybe that’s why you don’t…” Sora started and wished that she didn’t even tell them.
“That just doesn’t seem right, my heart is telling me something else…” Usagi softly said.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to…” Sora picked up her notebook and wished she could change the mood.
“No, it’s ok. Anyways, thank you for the passes.” Sora nodded and found her other one.
“Oh, do you think Rei-san would like to go? I have another one here.” Usagi wiped her eyes and smiled at her.
“I don’t know…perhaps…” she smirked.
“Usagi-chan!” Ami gasped.
“I’m just kidding Ami-chan. I’m sure she would love to, I bet she is a secret fan.” Minako laughed as Sora gave the other pass to Usagi.
“So it’s tomorrow huh? I guess the girls won’t mind if I miss one day of practice.”
“I wouldn’t mind missing a day of computer club as well…”
“Then it’s settled then, we will meet at the Fruits Parlor Crown, tomorrow after school.” They all nodded and Ami gasped.
“Looks like lunch is done, we have to get back to class.”
“Thanks guys!” Sora said as they left the roof. She was relieved they were happy again. “So bizarre they don’t recall, what happened. It’s as if they subconsciously forgot it.” She shook off a feeling of uneasiness, and went back to her least favorite class, math.
“You gotta meet Luna, I’m sure you and her would be good friends.” Sora and Usagi were walking home, since they both belonged to the stay at home club.
“Luna?”
“Oh she’s my little kitty with a crescent shaped bald spot.”
“That’s odd.”
“I know, but she is really nice, though lately she seems depressed.”
“Cats get depressed?” Sora had no experience with animals, and found that concept very strange.
“Yea, she is trying to talk to me, you know meow and stuff, but when she does, she has such a sad look in her eyes. I feel like she is trying to tell me something…” Usagi sighed and looked a little depressed herself. Sora then recalled that strange incident she had about a week ago when she became a sailor senshi. “A hamster was talking to me, so maybe…” Sora sighed herself.
“Maybe Luna is trying to tell you something.”
“Huh?” Usagi paused and glanced at her.
“I don’t know much about cats, but sometimes strange things do happen.”
“Yea..maybe.” Just then a familiar little tune started humming. “Oh, my phone!” Usagi grabbed it out of her bag and answered it. Sora paused and glanced over at the window of a store front they happened to be by.
“Oooh, a new book about tornadoes. How neat!” she frowned when she saw the price. “Nope, can’t afford it though. Maybe I should get a job or something…” Usagi’s voice interrupted her thoughts.
“Ok, Mamo-chan! I’ll meet you in a few minutes!” she looked extremely gleeful and closed the phone. “Sora-chan, my boyfriend just came back for his summer vacation from college, well he came back about 2 weeks ago, and he wants us to go out…” she giggled.
“Well, go meet him then.” Sora smiled back at her.
“I am, and I’ll give that extra pass to Rei-chan too! Thanks again Sora-chan!” Sora nodded and waved at her as she saw her long pigtails bounce with each step she took.
“Bye Usagi-chan.” She then gave that book another look and sighed. “Oh well, another day.” She started walking and thought about her morning. “I almost died for a pass I don’t know what to do with…” she shook her head and frowned. “I”ll just give it back to father. He’ll be happy that the others are going to good use though.”
“All by yourself today?” Sora quickly turned her head and saw Kamara-san leaning against a tree.
“I was.”
“Oh, so cold to me, even after what I did for you this morning.” Sora sighed and started to walk a little faster. “I didn’t even get a weather forecast for all my trouble. Don’t I least deserve that, I was late for the first time in my whole school career.” She stopped and gave him a guilty look.
“Really?” he smiled and nodded his head.
“Yes, really. It’s ok, all I ask is one weather forecast. That shouldn’t be hard for you, your majesty.” She was starting to consider him alright, until the majesty part.
“No.” She turn her back on him and felt the end of her braid hit him. “Ooops…didn’t mean that.” She thought and continued to walk. She heard him run and the next thing she knew, he was walking backwards in front of her. “Go away and bother someone else.”
“No.” he said while trying to maintain his walk and a straight face. “I don’t know anyone else who can give me an accurate forecast. It’s important.” She stopped and sighed.
“Why?”
“It just is.”
“Fine.” She closed her eyes and started to concentrate.
“What are…”
“Shush, you want a forecast right?” she glared at him and closed her eyes again. She felt the wind rush around her and saw it in her mind’s eye, dancing in the sky, forming small cirrus clouds. She smiled and finally looked at him. He was looking at her with a curious and amazed look. “It will be nice for the next three days, and rather cool at night, but a tad hot during the day. Afterwards, it will storm, probably in the late afternoon, evening time…” she then nodded her head at him and started to walk again.
“How, how can you do that?” she shrugged and continued walking. “Sora, that was amazing.”
“He said it…” She thought as she stopped again.
“I really mean it, Sora, and I really think you are going to be right.”
“He said it again.”
“What’s wrong, you looked like you are in shock or something. No one ever compliment you before?”
“My name, you said my name…” she said slowly while looking at her feet.
“I know.” She looked up at him and gave him a confused look. “I want to be friends Sora, I thought that was obvious.”
“Why?”
“Do I need a reason, besides the really neat and cool things you do?”
“I got to go…”
“Look, don’t run away, I don’t know what happened to you in the past, but I want to…”
“Really, let me be…”
“No. You can’t run away from the world and hide…”
“I can try.” with that she pushed him and started running, as fast as she could. “I don’t…I can’t…he doesn’t want to be my friend. No one really does…” she stopped when she saw Usagi’s face flash in her mind. “That’s not true…” Usagi was her friend, same with Minako, and Ami. So why couldn’t she open up to Kamara-san? He knew more about her than the others. “He might do what Mitsuki-chan did.” she heard her inner voice tell her. “Do you want to feel that pain again? You need to be alone, and safe…forget him and the others.” She felt sick. This wasn’t right. “NO! I’m not safe, I’m…alone.”
“No, no you aren’t.” she turned around and saw Kamara-san behind her. This time he wasn’t smiling and he was holding something. “You dropped this back there by the way.” It was the pass.
“How..?” she looked at her bag and wiped her face at the same time.
“It flew out as you were running. Luckily you stopped, you know you can run like the wind.” He was catching his breath a little bit as she looked over at him.
“Look, I’m sorry..” she started when he shook his head.
“We started off on the wrong foot you know that?”
“Eh?” Sora gave him perplexed look. “I just don’t get him.”
“Yea, so let’s start over. My name is Kamara Ryu, nice to meet you.” With that he bowed and gave her a polite smile.
“You got to be kidding. You know who I am.” she rolled her eyes and smirked a little. “You are persistent, but I get it.”
“Oh?” She sighed and stared off behind him.
“Look, I’m not saying I want to be best friends or anything, but yea, I guess I did treat you coldly.” He just smiled at her, and it made her feel uneasy. It wasn’t that she was just cold to him, she was generally like that with everyone. She didn’t want friends, but now that she had some, she found it wasn’t so bad. She still enjoyed her privacy and felt a lot of strange conflicting feelings when she thought of what happened when Mitsuki-chan left, but she realized, she shouldn’t blame that on the world. Still, she had her pride, and Kamara-san made her feel extremely foolish and vulnerable. She wasn’t ready to open up to him yet…not until she felt more comfortable around him.
“I’ll acknowledge you, ok?” He laughed.
“That would be wonderful, to finally be acknowledge by you, your highness.” She felt her eye twitched. “I shall be like a lowly knight in your royal court, protecting you from all harm.” She shook her head and glared at him. “He makes it really hard to like him though, acting like a jerk.”
“I don’t need protection, I’m fine on my own.”
“I beg to defer, what about this morning?” She felt her cheeks get hot and she cleared her throat.
“That..that was different.”
“You mean that doesn’t happen everyday.”
“Well, no!”
“I know, but luckily I was there…” his look became serious. “Or, begging your pardon your majesty, you would have become one with the road.” She gritted her teeth and glanced down the road. It was only two more blocks to her house, and as much as she found her father and his smothering affection annoying, she didn’t think it compared to as much annoyance she was feeling currently at this moment, being in such a bizarre and social situation. “It’s my lot in life. Why can’t the world pass me by and let me watch it? No, it has to make me part of it, and laugh at me in secret from this…” she flailed her arms.
“I give up.”
“Huh?”
“Look, I’m truly grateful for what you did for me this morning. I know I supposedly repaid my debt to you by giving you a simple weather forecast, but I think I owe you something else.” It was his turn to look surprised. “Finally the fool shuts up, and I can’t believe I’m going to ask this and I’ll probably kick myself in the morning, but right now I just want to get rid of him.” She thought as she put on her best fake smile.
“You can keep that. It’s a free and special pass to a movie screening that my father got for me. I’ve invited my acquaintances and that is the last one. The film is geared towards girls my age, so my father tells me, and I’ll understand completely if you don’t want to go…”
“Sure, I’ll come. Sounds fun!” She was flabbergasted. “He accepted? So quickly…is someone up there laughing at me?” she glanced upwards and then back at him.
“Really?”
“Yea, I would like to see where your dad works, I’m kinda interested in camera work…he’s a camera man right?”
“Uh, yea.”
“That’s neat. Well where shall I met you and your..” he grinned at her and got tad closer to her. “friends…er I mean acquaintances.”
“At this restaurant, kinda by that arcade, um it's called Fruits Parlor Crown.” Sora replied meekly.
“Ok.” He then stuck the pass in his pocket and started to walk away.
“Bizarre…” Sora shook her head and started to go on her way as well.
“Oh, and Sora!” he yelled, causing her turn around.
“Yes..?” “You never had to repay me for helping you this morning, I was just teasing you. I’ll see ya tomorrow!” he waved and started to walk again.
“That…ooooh. I haven’t been this angry since the weather man totally goofed up the weather forecast last year.” She fumed as she clenched her fist tightly around her bag. She calmed down as she reached her house. “Maybe he won’t go…” she sighed and knew in her heart that wasn’t going to happen. “He called me Sora again too. It looks like I’ve acquired a shadow, and I can’t get rid of it.” Slowly she walked into her home, feeling like she had lost a battle that was never intended for her to win.
It was much later in the evening when Sora got done with her homework, and writing in her diary. Her father had came home much later than usual, but was thrilled when she told him that she had invited people to come tomorrow.
“You probably won’t see me around though, I have a lot of miscellaneous work to do.” He had told her. She told him she understood. Now she was lying in bed, waiting for sleep to come, and all she got in return was all the built up anxiety from the day weighing down on her chest, causing her heart to have palpations.
“I shouldn’t have invited him. He is going to make tomorrow very unpleasant…” she then thought about how he did help her and started to feel guilty. “I need to make a conscious effort to be nice to him. I really owe him that, it’s just that he gets on my nerves with that lame royal thing he does.” She stared at the lights across the ceiling from a passing car.
“Father seemed really tired today. I hope he doesn’t have to keep up doing these bizarre jobs.” She turned on her side and began to worry about that as well. She was about to doze off when she felt the wind blow gently across her face. Her eyes fluttered slightly, and opened when she spotted the strange blue aura on her desk. “What..?” She rose up and rubbed her eyes. Fully awake again, she stared once again at her desk and saw the blue aura was there. The aura was small, very beautiful and concentrated, and most of all, it was definitely there. “What is that, my phone?” She got up and went over to realize it wasn’t her phone at all. It was her bracelet she found the week prior that allowed her transform into a sailor senshi. “
Why is it doing that?” She reached down and touched and the moment she did she saw an image in her mind’s eye.
“Sailor Eta Carinae?” It was extremely fuzzy, but it was definitely the hamster from before.
“Yes? Why are you calling me hamster?”
“Good, I can finally communicate with you. You are the key to help us get our team reunited.”
“Pardon?” She was confused at that statement, as she sat down. It was really weird to see this talking image in her mind and at the same time still see the dark expanse of her room. Her weird day didn’t want to end just yet.
“The wind, you must have noticed you are extremely in tuned with it.” That was a true statement, but she never thought much about it, it had been like that since she was a child.
“Yes…?”
“That’s because you are from the Nebula Eta Carinae. All people there are very one with the wind, and since you are their senshi, even though you are far away from your home, you can still listen to it’s wind.”
“It’s wind? The nebula?” she shook her head.
“Yes, this is the reason why I can talk to you. You are the senshi of that windy nebula, and I just assumed that you could still pick up message on the wind.” He then looked extremely agitated. “Helix…” he muttered and then looked back at Sora. “I’m sorry, I’m stuck in some sort of small black hole at the moment, and I do believe Helix must have knocked it.”
“Are..you alright?” she couldn’t think of anything to really reply to him. It was just strange to be talking to a hamster in your mind while you were sitting staring at the darkness in your bedroom.
“Yes, thank you. You have always been so polite. Unlike Helix…” he shook his head and got up on his two feet. “Anyways, I won’t be able to contact you often, it is very hard to track the wind from the Eta Carinae Nebula. It’s extremely weak out here in the middle of nowhere space we’ve found ourselves to be in.”
“Um, you mean Earth?” she took a wild guess, but she was realizing the hamster wasn’t from her home.
“Yes, whatever these creatures here call this blue ball. Do you remember anything from prior the attack from Dark Matter?” She shook her head. She was really thinking this whole thing was a dream, but dreams didn’t have the same feeling, she really felt her desk, the wind fluttering her hair and the warmth from her bracelet.
“K’tang. I knew it. I guess our whole team has lost its memory. He clenched his fist and looked angry and then depressed at the same time. No matter, you are in the area where the brightest light is.”
“Did it just curse in a foreign tongue?” she blinked and stifled a yawn. “Oh, no I’m not going to sleep yet, I’m finding about my mission, I think. Perhaps he knows Sailor Moon?”
“Are you affiliated with Sailor Moon…?” she asked him and saw his face light up.
“No, well not really, I’ve met her once. She is the brightest light! You have to protect her, until I find our other members of our team so we can come and meet you.”
“Brightest Light?”
“Yes, she is the holder of the most powerful, strongest light in the universe. Dark Matter is going to kill her and devour this ‘Earth’ and everything else when he comes. That’s why you must protect her. She has lost her memory, so it will be hard to find her. Perhaps if you can find these two cats…uh what were their names?”
“Me, protect Sailor Moon? She has lost her memory?” This was too much. She was a brand new senshi and her mission seemed impossible, after all wasn’t Sailor Moon the strongest of them all? Least she seemed that way on several news stories that had been covered on her. Even though most of them were vague and full of utter nonsense, Sailor Moon always looked like the leader of her other senshi. “How can I protect her from something that has that ability?” Sora had heard of dark matter from one of her science classes, but it was just some theory, and now it had intelligence and malice towards Sailor Moon? Suddenly being a senshi didn’t seem so cool now.
“Ah, thanks comp. The cats, they are Luna and Artemis. If you find them, I’m sure they will help you find and protect the brightest light.” His image was becoming very fuzzy again and the sound was becoming distorted. “Helix..? What are…?” he was now, well it looked like to Sora, flying about with various objects falling about him.”
“Wait, don’t leave yet hamster! I have some questions…?” He looked wistful at her.
“I’m sorry Sailor Eta Carinae, the wind is dying down and, Helix is obviously going on her way…” he was blinking in and out now and Sora gripped her bracelet tighter. It was becoming colder by the moment.
“Find the cats, they will answer your questions. I’ll try to contact you again…” suddenly his image disappeared, as well as the blue aura around her bracelet.
“Is this for real?” she stared at the sparkling object in her hand. She tried to absorb all the information she had just received, but it was really hard. She felt extremely tired suddenly and had a hard time getting to her bed. She flopped in it and felt her eyes get really heavy. “Didn’t Usagi say she had a cat named Luna…?” With that thought she drifted off to sleep as the wind gently blew her drapes and caused the night air to warm, making it comfortable for her to dream.
